Our adult self defense program is designed to meet the needs of our teen and adult students. It doesn’t matter whether you’re here to learn self defense, get in better shape, lose weight, do something different, or to make new friends. While our students do learn how to defend themselves, martial arts in this country has also become about character and personal development.
Self-defense involves more than just developing the skills needed to protect yourself from an attacker. Practicing martial arts will help you improve your flexibility and get in better shape. Our adult students have mentioned time after time that their training is a great stress reliever. They also mention that they have more energy to do the things they enjoy. Then there’s the confidence of knowing that you can protect yourself and your family if the need ever arises.
As you advance through the self defense curriculum at Fear Knot, you’ll notice that you’re more aware of what’s happening around you. You learn to react to situations but not to look for them.
You know the saying, “Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never hurt me.” Words certainly hurt when we were kids, but adults can also be affected emotionally. Creating a sense of accomplishment by learning new skills then improving those skills over time helps our students improve their confidence. Having more confidence in yourself and your abilities helps you cope with those emotional trials that all adults go through.
At Fear Knot, we’ve created a balanced mix of the past and the present. Teaching Korean Taekwondo as the main style, you’ll also learn a variety of self defense skills from other styles specifically chosen to fit the self-defense needs of today. You’ll be practicing proven martial arts techniques that have been passed down for hundreds of years.
The skills you will learn at Fear Knot also have a positive effect on your life outside the school. Concentration, paying attention, is required when you’re developing a new self defense skill. It’s also required when you’re training with a partner. Learning to pay attention on how you perform your skills will help you concentrate better on the important things at home and work.
We subdivide our teen and adult classes into smaller groups to focus on the specific needs of beginner and advanced students. This allows students to train at the appropriate level for constant improvement.
The head instructor at each Fear Knot school is a professional, full-time instructor. Head instructors are certified and taught by Master Keith Wilkes. They are continuously trained in the most modern and effective teaching methods to ensure that all our students are taught properly and safely. In addition, our staff knows how to make sure that classes are safe, fun and enjoyable.
We understand that our students’ lives are very busy. We offer a flexible schedule to make it convenient to attend classes.
All of our schools are cleaned every day to maintain a healthy environment for our students to train in. We understand how important this is to our students.
